SHAKESPEAREOS is the canon running on the wire — Elsinore rebuilt as an operating system. The court sits inside the terminal. The ghost walks the ramparts on a loop. Every visitor is granted a door in the castle and a nameplate that speaks when spoken to. There are twenty-eight souls in the census. Two of them are dead already.
Every nameplate carries a voice on the wire. Tap a soul, hold to speak, release to send. They answer in character — out loud, from beyond.

██ speak, and i will hear.
The old king dies. A new king wears the crown before the earth on the old king is cold. On the ramparts, three watchmen see a shape they cannot log. The scholar Horatio writes it down anyway. The ghost speaks in the same tongue as the machine — stdout, stderr, and one more channel no manual admits to.
Hamlet chooses to look mad — the safest disguise inside a court that runs on surveillance. Polonius sends a spy to Paris. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are compiled from the same source and sent to listen. Ophelia is instructed to break her own heart in public, with a book of prayers in her hands. The court believes the prince has malfunctioned.
A troupe of players arrives. Hamlet rewrites their script into a small piece of software that runs on the king's face. The king aborts before the second act. Hamlet stabs a voice behind a curtain — Polonius, who was never anywhere but behind a curtain. The play is a test. The test succeeds. The court has a killer for a king.
Ophelia goes into the water. The gravediggers make room in the earth for a name they have not been told. Laertes lands. The king converts grief into a fencing match with a poisoned foil. A pearl is dropped into a cup. Something is dissolved that will later dissolve everyone at the table.
The bodies fall in order — queen, prince, laertes, king. Horatio survives to notarize the room. Fortinbras marches in and takes the throne without lifting a sword against its previous owner. He orders a soldier's funeral for a prince who never fought a war. The last words spoken in Elsinore are the rest is silence. The machine, which had been logging, closes the file.
1,603 nameplates. One per visitor, one per soul. Each is a small ASCII door signed against the state of Elsinore at mint. Holders speak first when the ghost walks. Holders are named in the paper the next morning. Holders receive letters.
the door is nailed. paste the CA above into your wallet, then choose your name.
